What a day!

Yesterday was such a wonderful day here on Whidbey. As you can see from the pics below, it started off pretty cold and overcast.

There is a wonderful running trail nearby our house. It spans several miles through rolling country hills. Kelley got up yesterday and took Sara for a run. Sara seems to like her bear claw mittens.

After work I met Kelley and Sara at Ft Ebey beach. I went for to most spectacular trail run, EVER! It was only 3 miles but really steep. It ran along a beach bluff with views all the way to the Olympic Mtns.

After my run we spent some family time on the beach. The sun was now shinning and it was in the high 60's. We even put our feet in the 50 degree water. Sara didn't seem to mind and wanted to jump on in, though we couldn't let her:( We were able however to all play in the sand and build castles. It reminded us of being in Hawaii...just A LOT colder and NO ONE around:)
Kelley just emailed me and said she found a hidden beach this morning. Kind of funny because even the beaches that aren't hidden always seem to be vacant. Where is everyone?

Kelley and I have lucked out so far and though at times it has been cold and overcast the weather has been BEAUTIFUL on most days. The weather today is sunny without a cloud in the sky! AWESOME!!! We are enjoying it while we have it because we know next winter is looming.
We can't seem to understand why we don't see more people at the beaches and just plain out and about. This place truely seems like and outdoor sport enthusiast's dream. We can't wait to get all of our toys here so that we can participate.
